The 6 Step Non-Surgical Facial Rejuvenation Program

There is an anti-aging revolution occurring in healthcare today and that you are the main beneficiary. Nowhere in the field of anti-aging medicine are the breakthroughs and technological advances more exciting, more relevant and more readily available for immediate application and benefit to you than in the field of facial rejuvenation. Better, the most exciting, effective new discoveries are non-surgical methods for facial rejuvenation. Yes I said non-surgical and I said effective. How do we change from that radiant 16 year old with smooth glowing fresh skin to the 40 something who is beginning to see her mother looking back at her in the mirror to the 65 year old with hooded eyes, puffy lower eyelids, jowls, and loose skin folds hanging under the chin. Let’s review and clearly understand what these changes are that we must look for, recognize and then take steps to correct. Skin Texture Changes (Surface Irregularities) The aged facial skin looks dry when compared to a child’s skin. Over half of the crucial natural skin moisturizing agent Hyaluronic Acid is lost by the time we turn 50 and you cannot replace HA by taking a pill or applying it to your skin. Loss of hormonal support during menopause accelerates this change. Dry aged skin loses its glow, looks dull, almost grey. The aged skin is wrinkled and rough and pore size is enlarged. Uneven pigmentation, brown spots, and red spots (Pigment and Blood vessels) Uneven pigmentation and over growth of blood vessels are characteristic of aged facial skin. These blemishes are a protective and inflammatory response of the skin to years of exposure to ultraviolet light from the sun and injury from free radicals released by harmful agents in our environment and diet. Fine Lines and Wrinkles Fine lines and wrinkles are classic signs of facial aging. Static wrinkles are those that are present in the skin when the face is at rest. These wrinkles are caused by the loss of collagen in the deeper layers of the skin. Collagen is destroyed by UV light from the sun and free radicals from other sources. As the collagen disappears volume is lost beneath the skin and the skin wrinkles. This is not unlike the way a grape wrinkles after drying to produce a raisin. Dynamic wrinkles are those that you see when the face is moving- frown lines, laugh lines, worry lines, and crow’s feet. These lines are actually caused by the pull of the facial muscles beneath the facial skin. Dynamic wrinkles can become static wrinkles after years of repeated pulling by the facial muscles. Deep Facial Lines Deep facial lines are those lines around the mouth called the Nasal-labial fold line and the Marionette lines. These lines are different from wrinkles in that they are caused by a combination of the pull of the facial muscles and loose sagging skin. As the face ages, the skin becomes loose and falls over the line created by the facial muscle pull, for example the smile line. Loose skin The skin of the aged face has lost it’s elasticity and has become loose. The cheek has fallen and created loose skin on the jaw called jowls. The skin beneath the jaw on the neck is also hanging down, a phenomenon called the turkey wattle. What Is Facial Rejuvenation The definition of rejuvenate is to make young or youthful again or restore to an original or new state. True facial rejuvenation requires correction of all of the above facial aging changes for the face to be made young or youthful or restored to an original state. The 6-step program mis designed to address all aging changes without surgery. The 6-Step Non-Surgical Facial Rejuvenation Program The 6-step facial rejuvenation program consists of the following 6 steps: 1. Exfoliation 2. Stimulation of new collagen formation 3. Removal of abnormal pigment and blood vessels 4. Relaxation of lines of facial expression 5. Fill deep facial lines 6. Skin tightening The 6-Step Program In Action- How it’s Done Step 1-Exfoliation I start all of my patients on an exfoliation routine consisting of topical exfoliating creams and microdermabrasion or superficial chemical peels with glycolic or salicylic acid. The latter peels are no down time procedures, you leave the office a little pink but with a refreshed glow. The exfoliating creams I use are Retin A® or Tazarotine®, although for patients with sensitive skin I use Vitamin C topically. For patients with more severe aging changes I use a deper form of exfoliation called MicroLasaerPeel®. This procedure goes deeper than a Microdermabrasion® and is more effective, but you leave the office quite red and need 4 to 6 days for your skin to look normal. This is a great improvement over laser resurfacing, which goes much deeper and requires many weeks of recovery. MicroLaserePeel® does not lighten the skin or leave demarcation lines as does laser resurfacing. Many physicians use deeper chemical peels with TCA, but I prefer the MicroLaserPeel® because of its accuracy and reliability. Step 2- Stimulate New Collagen Formation After deep exfoliation, this is the most important step for removal of static facial wrinkles and fine lines. This step is also the most time consuming and tedious and requires patience on your part. There is no quick non-surgical way to remove visible facial wrinkles. Laser resurfacing can quickly and effectively remove facial wrinkles but I consider laser resurfacing a surgical procedure and the prolonged recovery and down time make laser resurfacing unacceptable for most people. While the topical creams mentioned above and deep exfoliation stimulate new collagen production, additional stimulation is required. Several new laser techniques, IPL, and radiofrequency machines can stimulate the skin to form new collagen in the deeper layers without producing damage to the skin surface. These techniques are called non-ablative, meaning they do not remove the surface skin cells as is done in laser resurfacing, which is an ablative technique. Consequently these non- ablative techniques are no down time procedures meaning that after a treatment you are pink but recover quickly within hours. There are many different brands of machines that can perform non-ablative stimulation of collagen formation often called photorejuvenation. I prefer one called Lasergenesis® because it is easy, painless, and effective. IPL is also effective and is very useful in patients who have a lot of pigment and abnormal blood vessels, but IPL is stronger, involves contact of the machine to the skin and must be used with caution by a person who is trained and experienced in its use. Collagen stimulation is a lengthy process. Effective results that you can see in the mirror, that is fewer wrinkles, requires at least 5-7 treatments and 5-7 months for the benefit to be visible. But, it took 30-40 years to form those wrinkles, so removal in 7 months without surgery and down time is pretty good. Step 3- Removal of Abnormal Pigment and Blood Vessels Although creams and exfoliation can remove many light brown spots and the lasers and IPL used in step 2 remove smaller vessels, more aggressive therapy is needed for removal of darker pigment and brown spots and larger vessels. There are many non-ablative lasers available for removing pigment and blood vessels. While these lasers are non-ablative they do leave a reddish mark which is visible for a day or two and easily covered with make up. I have used a laser called the Versapulse® for many years which works very well, but new Versapulse® lasers are so expensive that they are rarely being manufactured today. A newer laser called the Coolglide® is very effective for larger blood vessels. Today, the IPL is the choice for combined pigment and smaller blood vessels that appear as a flush similar to Rosacea. The above therapies are effective and results are visible in about six weeks. Usually 2 or 3 treatments are needed. Step 4- Relaxation of Muscles of Facial Expression Botox® is a revolutionary new drug which effectively removes dynamic lines and wrinkles caused by the muscles of facial expression. The frown lines, worry lines, crow’s feet, and bunny lines all may be lessened or removed by the injection of Botox®. Lipstick lines, the fine wrinkles around the lips may also be lessened with Botox® but only small amounts can be used, otherwise the lips will be weakened. There are several new “peptides”, one of which is acetyl 3 hexapeptide, which when applied topically as a cream are reported to have a Botox®-like effect in reducing fine lines. Eventually these agents will be perfected, be more effective and possibly make Botox® injections unnecessary. You may read more about how these muscle relaxing, wrinkle removing agents work in Chapter 7, No Down time Facial anti-aging Procedures. Step 5- Fill Deep Facial Lines and Contour Deformities Soft tissue fillers such as Radiesse®, Restylane®, your own fat and other fillers can be injected into the skin beneath a deep facial line to plump the line and camouflage the line. They may also be used to plump the aging lip and to fill contour deformities caused by facial aging. These fillers are temporary and must be repeated every 6 months to a year. Fat injections can last longer and if done properly may not need to be repeated. Remember however, the filler techniques are a camouflage, not a correction. Step 6- Skin Tightening Skin tightening is a very important component of any facial rejuvenation process. Prior to the past year or two, a face-lift was the only option for tightening facial skin. However new technologies using Infrared, Radiofrequency, and combined 1319/1064 wavelength laser energy are showing promising results as non-surgical skin tightening methods. Two of these methods, Thermage®, which uses radiofrequency energy, and Titan®, an infrared device have been used for 2 years and results are improving. These methods are not a non-surgical face-lift as so often advertised, so do not be misled. They can however tighten skin by as much as 30% in properly selected patients. There have been complications with Thermage® consisting of depressions in certain areas of the facial skin so knowledge and experience with the use of these machines is very important. As with other non-surgical facial rejuvenation techniques skin tightening requires multiple treatments and takes time to see the final result, often 5 months. As with the other laser and photo techniques above skin tightening is achieved by stimulating the deeper layers of the skin to remodel and form new collagen, a process which takes time, usually 5 to 6 months to see your result. Non-surgical skin tightening is most useful for younger patients who are beginning to have loose skin in the neck, along the jaw-line, and in the cheek. Older patients with severe facial sagging can be improved but results will be less impressive. The 6-step facial Rejuvenation Program is a carefully structured method for the application of revolutionary new methods to obtain effective non-surgical rejuvenation. This program takes time, but the results are visible and real after about 7 months, the same time frame most people spend using creams and diets only to end up seeing no difference in their face. Remember, it took a lifetime for your face to age, does it make sense that this damage can be reversed overnight-of course not. The non-surgical facial rejuvenation program is expensive. These new technologies are costly and of course you need to be treated by a qualified physician. However, with the six-step program you get what you pay for, facial rejuvenation without the risk, discomfort, and expense of surgery. If you total the cost of your skin creams, facials, fad diets, and spa visits and save this money for the 6-step program many of you will be very close to covering the cost. For those of you who already have facial rejuvenation treatments in a doctors office, the 6-step program will produce better more effective results and save you money.

No disrespect, but I personally do not know any woman that does not like money. I believe that it is a safe bet to say that the number of woman gamers online will help to increase its popularity. How to plan your carrier? Rules

There are 6 rules I followed to plan my Career:

1. Put Learning over Earning: Most folks look for instant gratification. In the initial part of my career I focused only on earning, I quickly realized my mistake.

2. Find out where you Stand: Are you being paid more than your skills? The easiest way is to go to the market & check. I used to do this frequently probably my own insecurity but also to find out where I stand. Giving interviews is the easiest way to find out where you stand

3. Take Risks: Trying new things, is also a learning experience. I was not clear about what I wanted to do, hence I tried my hand at many things till I found it. These included changing industries, roles, & quitting my job:)

4. Networking to Give: Building networks by giving freely. Connecting people together so they can be benefited. I tried to help people find jobs or opportunities. I did this for many years slowly the network started to give back to me.

5. Take Initiatives: Picking initiatives, projects, volunteering, helping both the organization & my colleagues. I remember my first unpaid external consulting project helped 150 people in an organization. Job shadowing & interning can be simple ways to do it.

6. Forever Upskill: Pursuing both formal & informal learning throughout my career. This was through certifications, trainings, education, programs.

I also realized that there are 6 common MISTAKES we make in our CAREER:

1. Moving jobs for Money: This gets you nowhere, but in India, this is probably why most folks move jobs. If today the salaries of data science are reduced by half all the hype will go away. I made this mistake. Infact taking paycuts for learning is good. I did it a few times in my career.

2. Moving jobs for a Bad Boss: I never made this mistake I stuck longer with bad bosses so I learnt so much more. This is tough. I stuck on for a few years with the worst boss I had. It changed my life completely.

3. Not Managing Politics: I was bad at politics, hence I struggled in political organizations. Actually most organizations are political.

4. Frequent job moves: I made frequent job moves it did not help. Thinking through why is so important. Good companies donot hire jobhoppers.

5. Not taking Risks: I took up different roles all the time in my career, I loved taking risks. Most folks don’t take enough risks hence they don’t progress fast enough. Taking risks for learning is essential.

6. Not having a Career Roadmap: Most folks don’t have a clear roadmap for their career. This is why quarter-life & midcareer crisis happens as well. We need to have a clear direction. Choosing learning over earning is so important. I made this mistake initially but mended it soon. Do what you love to do. Love what you do.

Setting goals and objectives is a process which has very wide application in business, and it was certainly a part of my own business training which I had to put into practice regularly in the years that followed. Some of the better businesses and organizations will also incorporate personal goal setting into staff development, as part of the personnel (human) resources routine. But what about you as an individual? Can you use goal setting as a tool to help you achieve success?

Goal setting can, indeed, be a very useful, sometimes powerful assistant to your personal success. If you incorporate goals and objectives into your personal planning, whether short or long term, then your road to success will have a better foundation.

Success? Success at what? That is entirely up to you. If there is something in life you want to succeed at, then there will no doubt be some goals you can set to help you along the way; like stepping stones across a river when success is the opposite bank. In reality, you can apply goal setting techniques to any part of your life, whether it is to do with work, personal relationships, where you want to live, or a personal hobby or interest. So long as you set realistic goals at each stage, then they can be a very strong personal incentive, which will prepare you for the next stage. Eventually you will be able to look back and see how far you have come, and you can wave goodbye to those stepping stones and go on to new ones on another journey to success.

If you settle down and think clearly about what you want to succeed in, and then what you need to achieve in order to get there, you will quite naturally give a structure to a plan which you will follow; a structure that will incorporate goals you will need to achieve along the way. As with business goals and plans, your personal goals need to be realistic. If you have never driven a car and decide you want to be a Formula One race driver, then it does not make a lot of sense to go directly to Ferrari HQ and say Here I am, can I race for you in next weeks Grand Prix?

If you are determined enough, you may become an F1 driver, but there are a few little goals to achieve first. That applies to just about anything. You need to pinpoint the key achievements along the way to success in whatever it is you wish to succeed in, set an appropriate series of goals, and then tick them off one by one.

It is important to think clearly about your personal goals, as they are just that, personal. They are not your husbands goals, you parents’ goals, or your brothers goals, they are yours. Keep focused on what you want to achieve, not what others would like you to achieve from their own viewpoint. Use the opportunity to incorporate lifestyle goals into your plan, such as living by the sea, having a nice house, anything that is important to you. Even happiness benefits from goal setting; you can think about everything that would make you happy, and then set goals to achieve each of those elements.

Having decided your goals, then put them together in a plan that is realistic, otherwise you may be despondent after missing a goal which was impossible anyway. Set a reasonable timescale, and then try to aim for it step by step. If your chosen area of success is a competitive one, then remember that most people will just give up. But you will not give up, will you?

When it comes to keeping your heart healthy long-term, a new study shows heart health issues get better treatment if they’re seen by a female cardiologist.

According to a systematic review from the American College of Cardiology’s Cardiovascular Disease in Women section published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, female physicians have better patient outcomes, compared with their male peers, while female patients are less likely to receive guideline-recommended care when treated by a male physician.

There are a number of reasons care differs when it comes to gender. Heart disease presents itself differently in women vs. men, and there’s a lack of women’s health training in U.S. medical schools. There’s also an underrepresentation of female subjects in clinical trials. Currently, of all the cardiology students in the U.S., only 18% are female.

Another thing that helps female cardiologists provide better care to our female patients is that we understand female patients better than men do. I can draw from my own experience and pick up on subtle signs a male doctor might not catch. Our communication tactics are slightly different, and understanding the nuances makes all the difference. Timing Is Everything
It’s still all too common that cardiac care for women gets unnecessarily delayed due to misdiagnosis or ignorance of the esoteric nature of symptoms in women. And that means more heart muscle damage. More subsequent risk of death. Time is muscle.
I’m involved with the Go Red for Women movement, an initiative created by the American Heart Association that has been educating and empowering women to take care of their hearts and their heart health for almost 20 years. Yet, after all this time, I still become infuriated every time I see the statistics that women are still under-diagnosed, still provided with less life-saving treatment, and still referred less often for procedures that might actually result in more successful outcomes for them.

Heart Disease Is the No. 1 Killer of Women — But It’s Preventable
The good news: Research is finally catching up to reality. In the last decade, we have made significant progress in the study of women and heart disease.
The Guidelines for the Prevention of Cardiovascular Disease in Women, last updated in 2011 by the American Heart Association, showed the profound impact of hypertension, diabetes, and depression on women’s hearts and explained that pregnancy can be a sort of “metabolic stress test” because there are many warning signs of future heart disease in pregnant women.

There are also the Guidelines for the Prevention of Stroke in Women, issued jointly by the American Heart Association and the American Stroke Association in 2014, showing that pregnancy, hormones, and migraines all contribute to the risk of stroke.
Furthermore, the American Heart Association’s Scientific Statement from 2016 about Acute Acutecardial Infarction in Women sheds light on how women who have had a heart attack are less frequently referred to life-saving treatment and are less likely to be prescribed medication to prevent complications, improve quality of life, and to prevent a second heart attack. (Note that “myocardial infarction” is the medical term for heart attack.)

This is all progress, but there remains a desperate need to ensure quick diagnosis and proper long-term care for women with heart disease. Therefore, the study authors suggest making three main shifts to elevate the treatment of women by male doctors.
Increase gender diversity in the physician workforce.
Improve gender- and sex-specific medical training.
Increase research on the role of gender in patient-physician relationships.

This is all significant, but change isn’t happening fast enough. I believe that in order to alter these statistics, we have to change the culture, which, as we all know, is a slow process. We’re still seeing more women dying of heart disease, and heart disease in women still causes more deaths than all cancers combined.
Therefore, I propose that we focus on the preventive aspects of heart health and provide active and effective strategies for early detection of disease in every at-risk woman before there are clinical manifestations. And by every at-risk woman, I mean every woman.

In the meantime, women (and I include myself, of course) need to take charge of their hearts and understand the critical nature of being their own advocates and fighting for the help they need to implement the preventive strategies that we already know.

Be Proactive About Your Health
As the treatment of women and heart disease continues to evolve, whether your current doctor is male or female, you must always advocate for your own health and yourself.
It’s critically important to ask questions. You won’t always have a doctor who’s good at this, but I suggest that you find one if you want the best care. A good doctor won’t expect your questions to be perfect or exactly on target or even obviously relevant to your condition. A good doctor will listen and get to the bottom of the “why.”
This takes some bravery, I know, but your doctor works for you and is there to help you.  questions are the perfect way to get the help you need and to foster a healthy doctor-patient relationship. And that’s one of the most important ways to achieve wellness.

Considering all of this, here are some guidelines for communicating with your doctor:
Know that you aren’t alone. Your doctor has probably heard your questions many times before. They’ll likely have good guidance for you, once you understand each other.

Take Preventive Measures

In addition to asking questions, it’s important that you take steps to prevent heart disease as a whole.
Heart disease almost always results from a mix of genetic causes and lifestyle factors. It all goes back to basics:

Get tests to understand your cholesterol level, blood pressure, and blood sugar. Get a coronary artery calcium score (a screening test for plaque in the arteries). Tell your doctor you want to establish a baseline so you can best monitor your own health.
Stop smoking.

Exercise regularly — at least 3-5 days a week — and get your heart rate up to moderate intensity for at least 30 minutes!
Get to a healthy weight.
Manage Your stress.
Eat a heart-healthy diet full of vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and healthy fats.
If you need medication to lower your risk factors, don’t dismiss this option! It could save your life.
If you think something is wrong, seek medical attention immediately. Don’t make excuses.
Take your health seriously. Be proactive. Let your voice be heard and advocate for yourself.

Some Tips to Help Shorten Your daily Workout

Does it seem from time to time that when you go to the gym and do your workout routine, it just takes too long? Maybe you’ve been noticing that you seem to be spending 20 to 30 minutes longer than you would like to. Well, what you need are some little things you can do that will not only shorten your time in the gym, but will still give you a good workout. For openers, you can split body parts. Working the legs and arms one day, then working the chest and back one day, then working the shoulders and abdominals the next day is a good, effective way to shorten your exercise time and still give each muscle group a good, solid workout. Another thing you can do is keep it down to one set. It is usually not recommended to do only one set during exercise despite claims made by other experts that one set can be as beneficial as 2 to 4 sets. But one set, as long as it is one good set, is better than doing nothing at all if time is the issue. You can also do a circuit style workout with your weight training. All you do here is complete one set of one exercise, then move right along to the next exercise non stop until you’ve finished each exercise in your routine. Once done, you take a 1 to 1 ½ minute rest period for some water, and then start on set two until you’ve finished all of your sets. If you haven’t done it before, a superset style workout can save a lot of time. This is where you work one muscle, and then work the opposing muscle or you do two exercises for the same muscle without a break. An example would be doing a bicep exercise followed by a triceps exercise. Another would be doing bench press followed by chest flies. You will need to have a workout plan. A lot of people in the gym wander around looking lost like they are trying to figure out what to do next. That is one of the biggest time wasters there is. Have an exercise routine planned and written out on a log so you know exactly what exercises to do and in what order to do them. Probably the one single thing that wastes more time in the gym above all is socializing. Either reduce or completely cut out “chewing the fat”. You may know people in the gym and they may have the time to approach you during a workout for conversation. If they do, just keep moving along while they talk or explain that you are on a time crunch and don’t have the time to talk right now. They usually will understand and leave you alone. More often than not, you can save quite a bit of time by keeping these things in mind and remember to just keep moving. You get more from your exercise program by spending 40 minutes in the gym with 30 minutes exercising than you do by spending 90 minutes in the gym with 30 minutes exercising.
